Lets see, original conroes were about 20% faster clock for clock in single threaded apps vs k8s, now penryns are about 6% faster then conroes in single threaded apps, I guess you are looking at something around 5Ghz+.

/yea I was thinking of what my q9650 at 4.3 was equivalent to in my old x2 3800+ speeds and I was just like %[email protected]$ [email protected]!#.

Theres high and theres lows, but single thread wise thats what I think the numbers come out to. I haven't checked up on any of this stuff in a while, just remember the general picture.

Well I guess since they're single threaded, the opteron equivalent will be somewhere around the number I mentioned.

There won't be any benefits to having a 4GHz E8400 over an Opteron for old games. PS2 emulation (using PCSX2) on the other hand is very CPU intensive and from what I've experienced it needs my E8400 at 3.8GHz to run well. For that purpose, no pre-Phenom AMD chip will match an E8400 at 4GHz.
