K, I am buying 5 drives. I am getting 2 150 GB raptors and 3 750 GB barracudas. I have two sata ports and three IDE ports on my motherboard. How do set this up. The 750 GB barracudas are gonna be PATA and the raptors SATA. I am using these in a home theater pc if anyone is curious on why the massave storage space. The raptors are gonna be in a raid 0 array for my game and stuff. My mobo is a soyo dragon ultra sy k8usa ultra black edition.

For Home theatre you may wish to consider going very quiet with the build. Having Raptors for a start is the wrong way to go about it let alone all those drives. For storage you can always have a network running and keep files in a different location where noise is not an issue.

For cooling, use Zalman Reserator since its for Home theater. Very nice looking too<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Thumb"> It will blend perfectly to your living room since it looks like a big surround sound speaker<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile">

i dont think he cares about noise in this situation cause if your gaming well then you have to deal with video card fans (if ur air cooling)

very very true. I dont mind the noise. My X FI handles the speakers quite well to cover any fan noise. But building a server is a great idea for the future. Never thought of that. I have a wireless network with 3 puters as it is!
