Well seeing as 1 episode of lost at 720p is 2.6GB, and 1080p episode would be able 5-6GB per episode. (Thats 1 hour of footage) so this size of disk is really needed.

I own and 46" Sony Bravia, and I must say that 1080p is amazing, and i'm greatly looking forward to TV series and stuff to come out at 1080p.

uncompressed video takes massive space. We are used to compressed (MPEG4,2) and it might take really seeing a high def viddy to convert us. It simply sets the stage for better performance later.

Maybe I'm getting mixed up with the prices of the movies?

I remember being told that HD DVD movies were gonna be between 28-35 (Candian). BluRay was gonna be slightly pricier too. Maybe they changed their minds since then (this was back in May I believe)
