i would think this block is very UN-restrictive actually

Dont for get that when making a TEC block you heed to ensure all of the block gets roughly the same flow becasue the heat is roughly = arross it's surface.

this is very different compared to a CPU block which pritty much only cares about the centre.

i would think id be better off with shallower channels to get the velocity up .

i dont have a very good W/C system so everyone should get better results than i do.

it's gonna take me a while to make the top for this thing

Thanks you can stay

i might have to make you one with all it's corners

i can't stop looking at it .. it's so nice.

The cold plate is on the mill right now ...

Hey it's looking good!..

..Your right if you keep the lower part shallow it should up the velocity a little.

Can you not get a little piece of Delrin there to make a top? It machines really nicely. HDPE might work to though, all I've ever done with it is drill and use files to shape it, but it didn't burn with a drill bit so maybe a mill will work to.

Delrin is 4 times the price of HDPE here .. so it's completely unrealistic when i have to buy it by the square meter.

HDPE is an "engineering" plastic and can be machined.

However

im gonna see if i can make an acrylic top for this thing now. as i would really like to beable to see the inner workings of the block .. Im sure this will be a bad idea though cos of how flexible acrylic is .... so im sure im wasting my time.... it's all learning for me though

obviously you'll want the large stepped one.
o yes the cutting fluid and coolant system is MOST important in getting a good finish with anything..

nice pics .. thats a lot of bolts !

Ouch a whole square. I hate to say it but you all need a flea bay there. This guy ships world wide, it would probably be to expensive to NZ but you might want to check it out. He's always getting in odd sized lots that he sells pretty cheaply...Delrin Virgin white sheet 0.375 x 6 x 27.75 CNC (3.3F)

A o-ring would be good with acrylic if you can cut a groove for it.

If you end up using HDPE or Delrin automotive water pump gasket with a little red Permatex on each side makes a real good one shot gasket. You can get short rolls of water pump gasket here at the auto shops for a couple of dollars.

i of cores could make it out of copper but that would add 1/3 to the cost and weight .. but i bet people would love it
