Hello everyone, I'm new to these forums, so I guess I'll give myself a quick introduction. My name is andrew, I'm 24, and I'm from Melbourne, in Australia

Anyways..

I am having some serious issues with 3dmark 2005.

My computer is a Pentium 4, 3.0Ghz, 1024mb ram, Gigabyte 8IPE1000Pro2 Motherboard, and an nVidia geforce 256mb AGP 5700LE video card.

I am getting scores ranging between 400-510 depending on how far I overclock the video card. At the moment, I have it overclocked at 310Mhz for the core, and 510Mhz for the memory.

The card plays games really well for what it is, especially when its overclocked. I'm completely out of ideas to why I'm getting such low scores in 3dmark, its doing my head in bad!

Has anyone had this same problem, or know why I'm getting scores that low?

If it helps, I have the Xtreme-G 71.20c video drivers installed.

Thanks in advance,

andrew

Welcome Andrew,
Please click the "user cp" link at the top of the page and fill out your system specs. This will help us to better answer your questions.
The card you have is a pretty outdated card and is probably not going to benchmark very well. Try 3dmark 01 or 03 and see what you get.

I'm guessing the reason you get terrible scores in later version of 3DMark is because your card does not support Shader Model 3.0, which is what the later versions of 3DM use.

Thank you!
Hey mate. I haven't seen for a while a thread about a 5700LE. I had one of these until June this year and served me very well. It is stock 250 MHz core if I remember correctly and my ram was @400DDR wich was quite lame. I'm advicing you to OC this card a lot since it can take whatever you give it. I OCed mine to 525GPU and 475MEM and with a Vmod it can go faster, but at that time I had no idea how to do it.

My scores on an Athlon64 2800+ :
3Dmark 2001 ~12000
3Dmark 2003 ~2700 (don't remember exactly)
3Dmark 2005 ~750 - and this is all because I OCed it a lot more than you have.

It's quite normal to have this kind of scores, the 5700LE was a upper low end card in 2002 when it appeared, something like a x1300pro nowadays. It played games quite well, I remember I played Farcry @1024* with upper medium details in 40FPS, preety respectable.

Off topic, I bought a 7300GT AGP and maaan what a difference. In 3Dmark 2001 I still get 12000, but in 3Dmark 2005 I get something like 3700... no comment.

Thanks adam144. That shed a bit of light on the subject for me!

dragosmp: Did you have extra cooling on your card to get that sort of OC? Mine is only using the standard fan at the moment. Thank you for the info anyway, I never realised just how far I could push it! I got the card for free too because I built another computer for a friend of mine, and it was his old card
