Yes V1 coolers are the way to go. V2 doesn't cool memory or VRMs and will dump heat on each other / in your case (not ideal for CF config).
Any reference V1 card(s) will do fine, however if you get the MSI one you can use Afterburner for voltage adjustments w/o flashing the BIOS.

Don't have time to check other vendors (at work lol), but Newegg has Diamond and XFX V1s for $180 (XFXs are free shipping)

In the uk
And I cant seem to find any msi ones anywhere Ill have a look now

Get XFX.

They are reference design (so XFX can't **** them up) and have a double lifetime warranty.

LOL my fault I didn't look. Just out of curiosity what are the "top vendors" used there?

If you can't get the MSI, it's not that hard to flash the BIOS, but even still most will clock to max in CCC easily.
Personal preference of mine is Sapphire, but again they're all essentially the same

Yeah IM not worried about flashing the bios done it on my 5850. Ill have a look and post what I decide
Xfx's double lifetime warranty is in the US only, in the UK it's 2 years, which is much longer then any real up to date gamer would ever keep them..

Anyway, have a look at scan, they sell the xfx ones for £119 incl

Being a member of hexus or avforums would earn you free next day delivery aswell

ahh cool cool Im not shipping my 5850 Out till tomorrow night soo Im in no hurry as long as I have them By Saturday. So u recon them xfx ones, no where else with have them to me until monday otherwise!!!!!!!! And will they need flashing to another bios to unlock there full potential?

XFX only has a 2 year warranty, yeah.

Personally, I'd get the ASUS HD5770 card, so you get access to the Voltage Tweak tool, and they've got a fairly good RMA system.

As I sad its ok what brand it is as long as its rev1 and Im not arsed about warrenty. And I know how to flash gpu bios'

Im thinking them xfx ones tbh not bad price and they will get them to me by 11.59am on saturday

Edit Nvm took the plunge and ouch £10 delivery

My Xfx card came with battleforge, think Dirt 2 only came with 5850 and 5870..
BANG. Scan messed my order up and It didnt get "accepted"*even though it said it did
* . Soo scan has now lost my custom and I'm going with someone else for the cards. And my choice is now Either... HIS , XFX, Saph. All rv1 Im still leaning towards HIS tbf ?

I picked Sapphire. And to be honest, I like the rev2 coolers better. They also perform their cooling duties better than the r1. Although some find issue with the lack of venting (even though the temps only rose on the mobo .5 degrees).

rv.2 coolers look lame, and people have said they dont cool as good as the rev 1 unless you apply your own mem coolers etc. Soo rv.2 isnt an option

And nope on the asus front, as the only ones I can get my hands on are rv.2

Look lame? And you've "heard people" say they don't cool as good?

Rev2 cools remarkably better. The very first chart should demonstrate that.
