is it possible that my monitor is to much for my 5850?the card never overheats and i play most games at 1650x1050. it seems to have some drag in games lately. i guess this might be what you guys call shuttering? i was wondering if theres a setting on my card i might be missing?

the 5850 will rape pretty much any res available for most games.

What games is it stuttering on?

A 5850 will kill 1920*1200. That shouldn't be an issue at lower res.

The screen size is not what important, the resolution is. I think ur new screen would be 1920x1080 or 1920x1200. The 5850 will do fine without any problems so don't worry. What driver are you using atm?

in cod 2 i know there is an option to enable dual gpu's and maybe you have that turned on?

your drivers?
i have tons of experience with crap drivers from ati, so try to get the latest rev, or the drivers the card came with.
