5850 and PCI-e x8?

Will a pci-e x8 slot bottleneck a 5850? How about a 5870?

if your CPU isn't running at a high enough frequency.

Also the 16x vs 8x thing has become too much of an issue. 3FPS is the difference for a majority of games.

PCI-E 1.1 x8? I would imagine it would be fine for the most part. I'd *guess* (since we don't really have any hardcore numbers for that yet) that at most you'd see a 5-10 FPS drop.

PCI-E 2.0 x8? Don't think so. PCI-E x8 2.0 is the same as PCI-E 1.1 x16, and thus higher bandwidth. Currently only dual GPU cards can completely fill an x16 slot.

No, at your resolution you lose 1-2% max with a 5870.
