6 gig vs 4 gig of ram on ud5p ?

Hello everyone at ocn, I am having trouble deciding what ram to get for a new amd rig. Was wondering if http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2528354&name=7 this set of ram would work on a GA-MA790FXT-UD5P board? Would it be slower than running 4 gig of the same ram since it wouldn't be in dual channel? I would like to run 8 gigs, but i'm afraid of stability issues resulting from all dimms filled, so was wondering if i could run 6 instead and would i see any benefits compared to 4 gigs.

If I get 2 sets of the mushkin ram, I would most likely run into trouble since all dimm slots would be filled right?

I've not done testing on that.

But my assumption is that it would be harder.

Though, if you get a newer C3 based Phenom II 965BE you could be able to run them all at 1600mhz Cas 7.

Note: C3 stepping is the new 125watt Phenom II 965BE.

This is right. AMD was very open and excited of the fact that the new C3 chips could handle 4 DIMMs of DDR3 1333 ram (which means you could easily run 1600).

So being able to run 4 dimms depends on the cpu and not the motherboard? The 125w 955BE would be able to do so also? In addition, running 4 dimms with 1.95v wouldn't be stressful on cpu or motherboard?

The 955BE will be able to run 4 sticks at 1333mhz, but if you want 4 sticks at 1600mhz you will need to look into the 125watt 965BE as it is a C3 stepping.

The 555BE & 740BE that are coming out soon will be C3 stepping as well, so they should be able to do it just as well.

So the 125w 955BE isn't a C3 stepping?
So, if I were to get a 125w 965BE cpu, I wouldn't run into any issues running all 4 dimms filled without raising voltages?

No you should not.
