My friend just recently got $591 and hes looking to get a computer and i wasn't sure what exactly to get. But he wants to be able to play fall out. So i was thinking a 9800 gt or something along that line... CPU wise i was thinking a duo core, maybe a tri core... I could use some help : P

Requirements- "Will be retail, most likely micro center" His parents won't let him buy online for some reason...

-Full build, need everything. Including monitor I found one for about 80 bucks so that leaves about 510ish for the rest.

I'm a tad confused here...He can't buy anything from an online retailer at all? If thats the case - then I doubt he is going to get anything incredible at those prices. Don't get me wrong - Microcenter has decent prices for a brick and mortar store...but you can find so much more online for less these days. Not to mention the money saved in tax alone (at least in AZ where the tax is 8.3%)

In any case - If he is really not an overclocker and is only looking for a good gaming rig...the bulk of the money should be spent in GPU's and CPU. Mobo won't make a big difference...and I doubt the RAM will make too much difference either.

Some parents don't trust their kids with credit cards : )

But ya i kinda had the basic idea, just was wondering if anyone knew about a good reliable power supply...etc things along those lines

$600 is pretty tough to get parts from microcenter.

E5200 is a good start. $70
Gigabyte EP45-UD3P $125
Corsair DDR2-800 2x2GB kit $25
9800GTX $125
Corsair 650tx $75 (not need a 650w psu but another generic 500w psu is $60 there)
Deskstar 640GB $68
Antec 300 $45
Xig S1283 $20

GTX 260 216
e8400
4GB RAM
Any S775 Mobo (that supports 45nm dual cores!!!)
Random Case (try to find one that comes with a 550-650W budget PSU if you want to try and save some green)
Optical Drive (Doesnt matter)
320-500GB HDD

That will be alittle less than 600. Try to find a TigerDirect or some other similar store...
go get a prepaid credit card and buy online. dont think their is any frys electornics like here in az. They have stuff cheap sometimes. like my antec 900 $20 cheaper then from newegg.

It is never too much!!!

GTX 260 216 is like ~215ish USD
e8400 ~160 USD
4GB RAM ~40 USD
DVD Drive ~20-25
Mobo ~100 (for a decent one)
500GB HDD ~60-70
case with PSU is like 50-70 (at most)

Total 680 At most, alrite alittle over budget, swap the GTX 260 216 for a 192 version then (sorry was just looking at pricing)

A pre paid credit card is a good idea, and maybe a gtx is the way to go.
