620HX or 750W Corsair

How nice is a modular vs a non modular PS? Im looking at the Corasir 750w for $130..vs the 620HX for $150. My plans are to have 2 640GB in Raid 0(eventually) and 2 HD 4870s in CF(eventually), running a Q9650 on a UD3P mobo, in a Cooler Master 690 case.

Ive done Cable Management with the 690 and the 750...and its really really not that hard, but is modular worth the extra $20...and THAT much nicer to justify it?

Be nice if someone could post pics of the 620HX so I can see what modular is all about
.

Thanks

Modular is nice when it cames to cable management and such. Since you don't need to use the extra cables you don't need. That's the most there is to it, as you can see on the picture.

But if managing the 750TX cables aren't a problem for you, then you should go for it for sure - the extra watt will do you good!

I agree...I just wanna hear some thoughts on the modular set up.

Thanks for the pic, was looking for installed in case pics though, but thanks.

The only somewhat of a issue I had with the 690 and the 750w was the cables were really tight to fit through the bottom hole and run through the back...yes they fit though.

Just FYI, I was looking at the same PSU (Corsair 750w) and I found it at amazon pretty cheap.

http://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-750w-C...7349764&sr=8-1

$108 - $20 MIR = $88 Shipped.

Just in case you hadnt found it yet

Not worth it.
I am in the same position but I'm going to go with the 750w. If you wait till tomorrow, the rebate should jump to $24 according to mirhelp.com

I would go for the 750w. If you like modular just spend the extra 20. I went from a modular to a non modular and it's not that much harder for cable management. You might want to look at the pc power and cooling 750w as well. It's 100 on zipzoomfly with 25 mir which makes it 75.
Modular is very nice when it comes to cables management. Other than this, I would go for a non-modular psu like Corsair 750tx.
The Corsair 750w is totally worth it.
It's got a great reputation, built by a solid company, has great reviews, good ratings (ripple/amps), and isn't overestimated.
If you get a new case, and can hide the wires, this power supply should last you at least another two builds, plus, it will adequately power two 4870's and all the other parts you're stuffin into that case.
I have the 620 in a CM690 case but I am about to replace it with a 750 so I can go Sli. the 620 is a great PSU never have had a problem with it.
You can go sli with 620HX I'm pretty sure.
Went with the 750 in the end, price was too good to pass up, $88 for 750w is a killer deal

I would judge depending upon the available open space in your case (size)
and the amount of air flow.

I would always go for more power vs. neat installations. but if you have very little space in your box and airflow is low you may benefit from the modular psu

Also w/ the non modular setup you can usually find some 5.25" drive bays to tuck away your cabling.

Happy building!
