Hey,
Ive looked through MANY graphics cards and came to a conclusion.

The 6600GT or the 6800LE?

Which would be better of overclocking? At stock the GT has a higher core and memory clock but the LE is 256bit. They are both priced around the same but im wondering which would be better. The higher core or the higher Mem Interface?

I also believe that the 6800LE can have extra pipes unlocked or is that just the vanilla? if the 6800 can oc to something comparable to the 6600GT's core clock, i know it wont get anywhere near the memory clock, then ill get the GT

Ideas, Suggestions?

I was under the impression that an unlocked 6800LE can easily beat the 6600GT.
Do both cards you are comparing (with the same price) have the same amount of onboard memory (aka 128 MB or 256 MB) ?

pci-e or agp, because the pci-e 6800 series dont unlock, only the agp 6800's do =/.

i just dont know about that. the 6800le cant compete with the 6600gt's speeds either. gddr3 and some really nice clocks keep them closer than people think. id do the cheapest, with a slight nod to the le since it has more "potenital." i had both and liked my gt better.

its a pci-e, my mobo doesnt have agp
From the sounds of things its gunna have to be the GT. Do they unlock\\overclock good with air or water. Im hoping to have water inside this year (thats if i havent built another rig by then)
What will a PCI-E 6600GT 256 under water, oc to? And what will it do on air (with superb air circulation)?

My 6800LE got 4714 in 3dmark05, my 6600GT on the same compy couldn't break 4100... So I would take the 6800LE, because of the 256bit memory interface (vs. 128 of 6600GT) and the extra pipes..

and 6600GT is DDR3 while the 6800le is just DDR....

6600GT is better in my opinion i have one but its been awsome, whenever it works

Well my AGP hit 590/1100 on stock cooling... Once I get a better cooler I think I can go Higher.

Comparing AGP or PCIe?

AGP....6800LE>6600GT.. (6800LE can unlock)
PCIe...6600GT>6800LE.. (6800LE can't unlock)

You may think the 6600 GT is faster than the 6800LE because it has a higher clock rate: 500 MHz for the 6600GT against 325 MHz for the 6800LE.

If unlocked, the 6800LE can process 12 pixels per clock cycle while GeForce 6600 GT can only process 8 pixels per clock cycle.

The 6800LE accesses memory 256 bits at a time while the 6600 GT accesses memory 128 bits at a time. This in turn makes the 6800 access its memory twice as fast as the 6600GT.

So let's say the 6800LE accesses its memory at 700MHz (256 bits) it makes it equivalent to a speed of 1400MHz at 128 bits.
The 6600GT accesses its memory at 1000MHz (128 bits).

All in all, I'm not saying the 6600GT is bad. On the contrary I think it's a good bang for the buck and it's a nice video card ! But I think the 6800LE has more potential that's all.
Still, the right way to compare the memory performance of different chips is through their memory transfer rate, which is calculated using the formula (clock x bits per clock ) / 8.
The 6600GT has a memory transfer rate of 16 GB/s while the 6800LE has a memory transfer rate of 22.4 GB/s.

my twin 6800le have a 7500 mark05 score at 410w PSU. Give me the juice and I will get them about 8000-8500 without a problem. I have not OC'd my CPU, ram or MB to get these scores.
my scores....
single le, no OC 3010
single oc'd 3900
SLI no OC 5700
SLI oc'd 7500
