I have just purchased a chaintech 6800 gt . i installed and run the omega drivers clocks are 350/1000 stock got it up to 402/1100 before freezing the system is this about right or could this card be flashed to ultra ...even when clocked this card underperforms compared to my x800pro .aquamark scores are gt=53786 pro=62000

From my understanding, flashing to ultra makes no difference. your 400/1100 speeds are Ultra speeds. The pipelines are the same for the Ultra and the GT.

Have you personally benchmarked an x800 pro on your system to do a direct comparison? Most often when a system is benchmarked, it differs from your system...and it is also tweaked and or running minimal processes to deliver the highest possible bench.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

i dont think that the x800 beats the 6800gt ever. in every official test, 6800gt smokes the pro, and comes close to the PE. so i think mayb you are using a bad install of drivers.

The Omega drivers are based on the 61.77 Forceware drivers... I suggest you try the 66.81 which you can get from Guru3D... http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=884

I am just about to try out the NGO tweaked drivers which are based on the 70.41 drivers.
You can download them http://www.newgenerationorder.org/ just scroll down alittle bit and you should see them... Or if you cant find them on there news page here is the direct link... http://files.tizian-security.net/NVIDIAODNGO02.exe
Apparantley these NGO drivers are really fast and have given most people a boost of 1000 points in 3DMark03... We shall see in a few moments what they can do.

right have done a a bench mark on both my cards here are the results

6800gt 3dmark 03 = 11225 3dmark05 = 5625 aquamark3 = 63995
x800pro = 11150 = 5465 = 62878

now the x800 oced at core 513mhz/ ram 607mhz
6800gt 425 1200

obviously this is not conclusive but all test were done on the same rig with a new install of windows i did let the cpu run at stock so only to let the gpu,s do the work ..what do you think.....

ati = omega drivers
nvidia = driver supplied by dreadlock(many thanx)

Thats quite alright... By the way which driver did you use in the end... Was it the 66.81 or the NGO.

I have done some benchmarks with the NGO and found they do give a good imporovment in benchmark scores but for some reason the give me a lag effect in CoD... This is the only game I have noticed it in so far.

The scores are similar too my own... I score about 64K in Aquamark3 and about 12-13K in 3DMark03.

right done the benchmarks got 11980 3d mark 03 and 66106 on aquamark 3 on the gt where the ati ran at 11700 and 65385 Still not a lot in it would love it if some one could do the same with a good p4 setup just to see the comparison by the way the AMD 64 bit 3400+ was oced to 220 fsb =2640 which is highest stable with no heat issues know it would go higher with a better mobo and wc but that will have to wait
