Uh yeah you've definately been reading something wrong... you sure you didn't missread for the 6800GT? Cause the 6800GT is the best card you can buy for the money.

On BFG's site it shows that other than 128 mb memory the 6600 gtoc has faster core clock and mem clock and I had all in side by side windows to compare.......it's got me confused from what I read here and there

Well yes it does have a faster core clock...
Read the video card link in sig for more deatails, but what it boils down to is the 6800GT has 350MHz core clock and 16 pixel pipelines, a 6600GT has a 500MHz core clock but only 8 pixel pipelines, so the 6800GT can render more pipelines even at lower speeds. Also, the 6600GT has a 128-bit memory bus clocked at 1000MHz, but the 6800GT has a 256-bit memory bus clocked at 1000MHz, again, more data moved at the same clock speed.

>_> there really isnt that much competition. The 6600GT is a good card, but the whole 6800 sereis will beat it nonetheless, but its still a relativly cheap GPU that does a good job on games.

OH OK I follow you now I was reading the specs and not the description of the card.....I SEE SAID THE BLIND MAN

SO I can OC the 6800 gt to Ultra with no problem then?

Nope. 6800NU still has 12 pixel pipelines over the 6600GTs 8 and the 256-bit memory bus. But the difference is pretty small, and you probably wouldn't tell unless you were running higher resolutions.

Nothing is guaranteed in overclocking, but in most cases (and really every case I've seen) people have gotten ultra speeds, and sometimes more.

Buying a BFG OC card gets you a lifetime warranty and an extra 25MHz on the core, not really worth much more too me if the price difference is very large, but last I checked, the BFG was one of the cheapest on Newegg.

the 6600 GT is a 16 pipeline card just fyi....

Edit: I was very wrong here
. But damn, I could have swore it was 16

and ya the 6800 GT is by far the best for the money.. unless u are on pcie.. then the "money" becomes $500-$550 but the ones for agp are much much cheaper $380+

The 6600GT only has 8 pipelines, I think that you should read up on it

The 6600GT is worth the money as a low priced graphics card

I am really happy with it atm. 100fps in cs:s with everything on high at 12xx x xx
res I am glad really I didn't go with the any other card. I just can't see needed a
better card atm. Sure I won't win any benchmarks but for only $180 this card was a steal.

(8050 in 3dmark03 not overclocked yet)
