Heya Guys,

Currently shopping for a new gpu setup..

I was pretty set on a pair of twin frozr III 560ti's or 6950 twin frozr IIIs..

But after seeing the 6870x2 benchmarks It's pretty impressive..

I'll be looking at running eyefinity/surround on 3x23" monitors so it'll be running a pretty high resolution on games like Rift, BC2 etc..

Thoughts?

Go for Crossfired 2GB 6950's. Awesome scaling(almost 2x performance as single card) and 2GB of VRAM for high res gaming.

Agreed. These cards really are the best for CF scaling. It's just great to have two of them.

EDIT: YES, the TwinFrozr III does OC very nicely.

when i had 6950 CF i could just do rift at max settings on 1920x1080

Uhm, I built a system for a friend of mine with a Phenom II X4 955 BE, and a single 2Gb. HD6950, and he runs Rift maxed out at 1920x1080, so there's something wrong...

MSI TFIII's ftw! They also have the BIOS switch if you wish to unlock to 6970.

the BIOS switch you refer too is for fan profiles, it doesnt unlock it to the 6970 shaders.

you can flash your BIOS to the 6970 but there is not "fall back" option when you do so.

Also i have 2x 6950 twin frozrs and im very happy with it, they handle any game currently on the market excellent with no OC.

Ah I remember seeing somewhere that it was the BIOS switch.
