im low on money and i made a offer on a 4 month old 6970 for 100-150 euro and already got a 6970 right now so it woulth be a easy way to keep my system up for atleast this year i checked some topics most leads to buying a new 7970 because of stuttering problems/low fps because of drivers but those where from 4/6/2012 and i think the drivers got alot beter nowadays anyway woulth love to have some input here to make the choice

well.. given the 780 isn't out and there's no specs for it, it's a little difficult to say!

Don't bother with CF, stuttering and other problems are a nightmare. The 7970 is only about 1,5x the power of a 6970 though so it's not going to be loads better but it'd be a better solution to sell your other 6970 and buy a 7970 rather than X-firing 2x 6970s.

a stock HD 7970 Ghz(1050 mhz) is on avg 60 - 65% faster than HD 6970. with overclocking the gap increases to 80 - 90%. In the latest DX11 games like BF3, Crysis 3, Farcry 3 the HD 7970 Ghz is 80 - 100% faster than HD 6970 even at stock speeds.

sell your HD 6970 and get a HD 7950 boost or HD 7970 OC(1 Ghz) HD 7970 Ghz(1.05 Ghz) . HD 7950 is 5% slower than HD 7970 at same clocks. HD 7950(1100 Mhz) matches HD 7970(1050 Mhz).

nvm. the 7970 is about equal to 2 x 6970. but i'll recommend the 7950. it is a tad slower than the 7970.

What he said. I was in the same dilemma as you a few months ago. It was actually cheaper, and faster to sell my 6970 and get a 7970 rather than go crossfire.

Honestly though, 6970 does just fine on High settings in Crysis 3 at your resolution, and it's the most demanding game right now.
