You can't go worng with either of those cards. Every bench will be within fps of each other. Id go for the 7600GT.

Seriously the 7600GT is a really good card probly the best midrange in an all around way. You get a fast card with modern technology, a good OCer, energy effeciant, and great thermals.
The x850 on the other hand is RAW power designed for high frames per second. It is a very good card from all that I have read, out performs the 7600GT and the 7800GS AGP in all test accept 3dM06. That is were the 850 falls short it does not run shader model 3.0 or HDR.
I went with the 7600GT obviously and though I have never used or seen an x850 I am still very happy with mt decision.

I get around 7K in 3DMark05 with my old San Diego at 2.8GHz, but that's with a high OC on the card (570/600 is the highest I can go at acceptable temps).

If you wanna play newer games with shader model 3.0 as Villainstone said, you don't want the x850xt. But since this is overclock.net, you should get the 7600GT, it loooooooves to be overclocked and it supports 3.0 shaders and HDR, so it'll look sexeh at the same time..
