780i and 8800gtx

Well, ASUS rejected my 680i RMA so I got the eVGA 780i FTW. Upon installing the mobo and powering up, I get a long, continuous beep from my video card (stock nvidia 8800gtx that I got after I RMA'd my previour 8800GTX just over a month or two ago) and the motherboard's display shows "FF". I don't know what is at fault: my mobo, my video card, or my power supply...

There is no video as well (my monitor power LED stays amber/orange and doesn't turn green).

I have the two power cables plugged into the video card. The video card was working perfectly with the 680i motherboard I RMA'd. There was no beeping, even with 4 HDDs. I've tried the mobo with just one stick of RAM and not even an HDD or DVD drive and the video card still beeps continuously.

I've been looking around and I shouldn't be getting "FF" instantly with my mobo either, so I'm thinking it is the motherboard.

Check your cables again, and reseat your card..means a connection is wrong. And that you just went deaf. Those things are LOUD
FF means that your system is good to go. Something else (not your board) is the problem.

I did. I reseated the video card and tried all three of the PCI-Express slots and the same thing happens. The video card makes this noise when either not enough power is reaching it or it isn't seated properly (or not connected to a mobo at all) so I'm guessing it's the motherboard as this problem didn't happen with my previous mobo and the card has been untouched since I RMA'd my previous mobo (the previous mobo problem was BIOS related so it's not relevant to the video card problem).

From what I've read, I shouldn't get this instantly. I turn on the PC and the mobo instantly flashes "FF".

Yeah, it should go through a few post codes while booting then finally come to the FF code. This could be a problem with the board. Reseat your memory and see what happens.

did you update the bios on your new mobo?
Sorry, instant FF can also mean it is dead if it doesn't beep. My bad

I would've loved to have done that if I had gotten the chance then I can actually know I did something wrong but I just got the mobo 4 hours ago and I spent the past 4 hours trying to install it and then trying to figure out what's wrong ever since I first powered it up. Nothing has changed yet... ugh this will be my third major PC component I'd be RMAing since December!:swearing::swearing::swearing:

All three have been nVidia parts........
