Just hoping to get some input as i order tomorrow, one or the other, but i can't decide which one :S the 512mb of the 7900gto is really attractive, and it's said to be very clockable to gtx speeds, but hte bmarks of the x1900xt are undeniably solid.
Check this thread out, http://www.overclock.net/graphics-ca...s-x1900xt.html
I just had a friend trying to figure out which one to get, he ended up getting the x1900XT.

Check my 3d mark 06 score on the sig. 1900xtx and a E6700 yields about the same score. Seen one on this forum w/ a 6500....that a little sad considering I have my card "switched" to 1.4v @ only 630mhz. I have benched it at over 700mhz at 1.5v core and stable mem w/ 2.2v @ 2ghz!
Bang for the buck...-> 7900gt vmod all day
These cards are going for like 265$ US now, and produce scores very near all 1900 series. I you choose to take your 7900 past 600mhz....you had better have the processor to feed it! My 3d mark scores jumped as high as 2500points just from upgrading my P805 @ 3.2ghz-> to my E6700.
*Another thing-> you had better have a 20in screen or better to need SLi.... 1600x1200 w FULL Q settings on FEAR runs an average of 115fps! Check out some other forums on power consumption also....Ati cards are power hungry monsters! Almost 50-75w @ the same clock speeds.

I'd go for the 7900GTO, because it is an underclocked 7900GTX. But really, its the exact same card, for much less. I like the EVGA 7900GTO, goes for $245 from newegg right now. A friend of mine just got one, and he was very happy to see it overclock to speeds well over 7900GTX speeds. He had core up to 700mhz and memory up to 1.6ghz all on stock. And the only thing that was limiting him, is cool bits wouldn't let him go higher, he needs another oc program now.... On his AMD 3200+ system, 512MB's of RAM, he scored 10,200 in 3dmark05! The 7900GTO is a beast!
