Has anyone got benchmarks to see what the score/FPS difference is? I am wondering if it's even worth it to even bother going that high.

Some super quick math will tell you: 5.0/4.8 = 4.16% faster.

I am pretty sure that there is a diminishing return higher you go.

Make sure it works first before you delid it. Otherwise you might have a dud that you can't return.

Each equal step up is a smaller increase in performance. Going from 1.0GHz to 1.2GHz is +20%, but 4.8 to 5.0 is only +4.2%. Because you are wanting to compare the same chip that makes CPU performance difference based purely off of clock speed.

There's no such thing as diminishing returns. Only the law of scaling. An increase by a fixed number value has a smaller effect on a larger value than it does on a smaller value, while the actual raw fixed IMPROVEMENT of frames or calculation you get is linear. CPU's, when proper current and TDP limits are removed, don't have hidden power limits like recent GPU hidden arcane cancer throttling does.
