8800 gtx vs 8600 gts

I was wondering how much better the "8800 GTX 768MB" is than the "8600 GTS 512MB"

I know that the higher numbers does not always mean better. 8800 gtx beats the new 9800 gtx that was just released and the 8600 gts 512 beats some of the higher ones as well..

So can someone tell me how much better the 8800 is from the 8600?!?!?

A LOT faster, 3 or 4 times maybe.

8800 GTX is miles ahead of 8600 GTS 512, probably at least 4 times faster.

Here you go, 8600 GTS is all the way at the bottom of the chart.

So how well is the 8800 GTX.. is it capable of crysis ultra high settings?!? I can run it on all high with the 8600

Dont know how you can run it all high with 8600, but 8800 GTX is three times as powerful in Crysis.

All high on an 8600GTS 512MB? Is this a GDDR2 or GDDR3 card? At what resolution? What frames are you claiming? Because that sounds like a bunch of BS. I had an 8600GT (same as a GTS with slightly lower clocks) volt-modded with aftermarket cooling and overclocked to 920MHz core, 2024MHz shader, and 940MHz memory, and could only manage playable frames at 1280x720 mixed medium/high settings, but not all high.

And the 8800GTX is miles ahead of the 8600GT/GTS. I noticed a huge improvement going to even a single 8800GT 512MB from my highly overclocked 8600GT.

I can't find the 8600 512mb anywhere online that has a price tag.. there all 256mg
There really isn't any competition between the two. As stated above in many links.

Are you looking to upgrade to a 8800GTX?

8600GTS is a 128bit card so 512mb doesn't help.

well maybe I was mistakin some settings but i just went to the advanced tab and set everything to high and played it..
yea I'm gonna upgrade it... was just wondering if i could get any trade profit from it instead of paying all cash
Yeah, I'm calling BS too, I had a 86xx GPU and it wasn't all that great. And which newer GPUs can the 8600GTS beat? Definately nothing in the 8800, 9600 or 9800 series...and the 9800 is somewhat better than the 8800GTX btw. So is the 8800GTS G92. And this also depends on res. I believe a 86GTS can run all high at 1024 or maybe 1280. Not trying to be a dick, but I know what the 86xx series is capable of and you're putting too much hype on it lol.

And I doubt you would find someone trading a 8800GTX for a 8600GTS straight.
maybe I'm wrong **** I don't remember lol if I still had it installed I would go put it all on high and check
the 8800GTX is a beastly card, even by todays standards its still a powerhouse. it makes the 8600GTS shriek like a small child while running away in fear.

unless your getting a great deal on the 8800GTX id go with one of the newer cards, the 8800GTX's seem to be hitting the age where prices are on the rise
So I'm assuming 8800gtx can run any game.. possibly crysis on ultra high?!?!
Are you looking to buy new or used because you won't be able to get a 8800GTX new. In which case there are better cards on the market at the moment that perform better and use less power than an 8800GTX.
used.. from my bro.

he just got it and now I'm willing to buy it trade mine
How much are you paying for the trade?

on your resolution, it will play crysis high, not ultra high though.
