8800GTS and 8800GT Temps? [related to [email protected]?]

So both of these cards are in my secondary rig folding 24/7. This is a new combination of components i put together recently.

The rig is comprised of

PCP&C 1kw
q6600
asus striker extreme
4gb (4x1gb) ddr2 1066 corsair dominators
evga 8800gts g92 512mb
and two 8800gt g92 512mb

as i type this, the current temps for the cards are

8800GT
GPU Temp: 66
PCB Temp: 54
GPU Temp: 58.3
PCB Temp: 54.8
Fan Speed: 60%

8800GT
GPU Temp: 73
PCB Temp: 59
GPU Temp: 65.5
PCB Temp: 59.8
Fan Speed: 60%

8800GTS
GPU Temp: 68
PCB Temp: 53
GPU Temp: 60.3
PCB Temp: 53.8
Fan Speed: 76%

I'd like to keep the fans at a semi quiet speed b/c even at its current state, the rig is pretty noisy. [mainly the psu fan tho.. delta 80mm -.-"]

Current clocks are

8800GTS - Core 660 Shader 1850 Memory 975
8800GT - Core 600 Shader 1700 Memory 900 [both cards at same speeds]

what u guys think? i havent really oc'ed the cards, im just up'ing the shaders periodically until i start getting like unstable machines from the [email protected] consoles...

what you guys think?

currently getting like 12-14k ppd on this rig. i havent had time to get SMP up and oc the q6600 either.

Your temps are just fine right now.

You could look at picking up some VF900's or VF1000's cheap though and that would help temps/noise alot.
how much are those? last i remember, they were pretty expensive

VF900 $36 Free Shipping Newegg

Ask around the For Sale section and maybe the [email protected] section. They usually go for $15-20 there.

mm maybe...

what are acceptable load temps on the 8800GTS and 8800GT's?
so high? wah... okie dokie ^_^ thanks
Yeah your temps are fine. I run 3 8800GTSs in my rig and my temps are usually mid to high 70s in the summer and high 60s low 70s in the winter. I dont see any instability with these cards until I peak over 80c, so my general rule of thumb is to keep it under 80c.

And as you noticed the middle card always runs hottest.

I am running mine with the shaders set to 1836 and the core and mem set to stock.

Would that cooler still work with 3 GPUs sandwiched together? I didnt take the time to look at the dimensions?

The VF900 & VF1000 both work in a SLI setup just fine.

Iandroo, those temps aren't bad. How long has the rig been up?

My friend found VF 900's (BNIB) on eBay for $10 shipped. It worked wonders for his 3870.

Make sure the cores have an IHS and are not the bare die if you use AS5.

Also, usually you cannot get the RAM IC's with TIM as they are lower than the IHS and coolers don't drop down to touch them besides water blocks so Pads are the best.
