940BE + XigS1283 Temp issues.

349 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Xinoxide
Just got my XigS1283 onto my 940 BE, ive seated it like 4 times and am getting the same temps.

41C Idle, 56C Load.

Bump up to 1.5v and i get 44C Idle, 61C load.

being a heatpipe exposed heatsink, is there a certain way i should try to apply the paste? ive tried using AS5 ( ran out after 2nd application ), Antec Formula 5, and OCz Freeze. all with the same effect.

The method above is best but a litle bit tricky. A thin line of TIM down each heatpipe works reasonably well too.

i went ahead with this method, got a new tube of as5 too. temps down to 38C Idle, 50C Load, a bit better, and my room isnt too cool at the moment, so i think this will be a good enough for 3600MHz until i get a better case.

it seems to have helped, i think the problem is in TIM piling up in the crevases bewteen heatpipes.
