Sell it for the cash and the 4550?

9500GT over 4550?

2014 Views 6 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  brain_stew
I am busted by this, I am very broke on cash and I am thinking I should sell my 9500GT for my friends 4550 and 20$. That 20$ surprisingly would really help people.

Could anyone offer up a benchmark link, preferably a 9400GT/9500GT against a 4550? My 9500GT is eVGA 512MB of GDDR3. I looked around but I am really limited by my schools site blocker system, have to use youtube.ca/kotaku.com.au just to get to my favorite sites.

All help will be rewarded with +Rep.

The 3850 beats the 9500gt in many benchmarks: http://hothardware.com/Articles/NVID...am-GPU/?page=8, so i can only assume that the 4550 is much better than it. This is all moot however when one considers these high performing, and very cheap cards:

Assuming you need the money it is a relatively good deal for you. The 9500gt is more powerful than the 4550, but neither are very powerful. It really depends on whether or not you can still play whatever games you play with the 4550 (or lower the quality).

At higher resolutions (both cards will struggle) it seems as if the difference between the cards will level off. Ultimately it depends on what you want to do with your graphics card.
If you want to look more in depth there are reviews directly comparing the two cards.

Video card prices are dropping all the time. I bought a cheap 8600GT to tide me over till the 9800GTX+ dropped below $100 (it happened but I missed it
). It really does depend on what you plan on using the graphics for. If you are running everything on low as it is, a 4550 will render games unplayable.

No, the HD3850 is not comparable with the HD4550. In fact the HD3850 would destroy the HD4550. The HD3850 is equal to the HD4670 or better.

Both are very bad value. Save up enough cash until you can afford at least a $75 4830. You will get several times the performance that you curently have:
