If you're stuck on shopping at Fry's, they have a pretty decently priced Antec Earthwatts 380w. That PSU has 27a on the 12v rail as can be seen here (12v1 + 12v2 = 324w max load, divided by 12v, equals 27a.)

so are you saying a 380 psu can run a 9600gt or 9800gt?

any antec psu should be fine...and you may as well get a GTS240 instead of a 9800gt, exact same thing, but cooler name and should cost the same or less

Just get a 4670. Same performance as the 9600GT. Also if your PSU isn't the standard ATX (Weird Dell format), PC Power & Cooling are one of the best PSU companies and they make replacements specifically designed for Dells.

you could do that if you did your stock psu would handle a 4670. Performance is a little worse, but really close.

well i dont need suck a kick ass video card when i only have a 2.3 amd dual core lol it would sorta be an overkill. Many why did my 8600gt have to die on me..... i wouldn't have to upgrade if my card didn't die and im stuck with an onboard 6150E for now... which even lags in counter strike source

Isn't that EXACTLY what I said in like the 2nd or 3rd post?

Seriously, just get the 4670 instead of the 9600GT. Almost identical performance, and your computer will handle it fine.

dude id just pick up a 400w hec power supply on newegg for like 20$, im pretty sure it'll fit your case. or id pick up an antec basiq for like 20$ and it'll still run on ur system pretty nice. psu's arent that expensive

IT WOULD WORK IF IT IS THE ORIGINAL DELL PSU!!!

Dell and other such companies underrate the PSUs they install in systems (looks better on them, cause it would appear the computer would be running with less power).

The PSU might have another 100W in it, depending on your luck, although it should be good for 50W extra). Try it and see what happens...

bull. my 9600GT ran on 18 amps just fine. 22 amps is an estimated full system capacity at 100% load. i've heard of 8800GT's running on dell 300w's...it should do fine. but i still recommend a 4670 anyway
