9800 SE to XT?

I just got my hands on a 256-bit ("L-shaped") 128mb 9800SE and I was planning on using the Omega drivers and unlocking the pipelines and then overclocking it to XT speeds with a Zalman VF-700CU cooler. Can't I just flash the BIOS and get all of that (minus 256mb of memory, of course) in one simple step? Or would it just be easier and less risky to do the omega-atitool method?

It just seems to me that this is possible seeing as my SE is just a crippled Pro 128mb and those can be flashed to XT's if they have the right core and memory.

Try the Omega softmod first and if it works then you can try flashing it.
Right, Verify that your card works undisputably stable with all the pipelines unlocked, and at XTs clocks, then look for a custom BIOS and flash it...
Some versions require wire mod before they can be flashed...

Try the ATI Softmod from techpowerup..hereit requires no BIOS modification, just a good stable card and some luck with the cores that they may work withut artifacts on the extra 4 pipelines.

I read that there are R350 L-shaped RAM chips 9800sem, and they are impossible to unlock... so there is no guaranty that it can be unlocked...
