9800GTX+ or 9800GX2 (GX2 Owners Chime In!)

I know this may seem like a no-brainer but I can get both for roughly the same price. I have a TX750W PSU coming as well, so power it not an issue.

It seems like the "SLI" of the 9800GX2 is not regarded well in some games, is this true? How does it scale?

I know the 9800GTX+ will run a bit cooler as well, but heat isn't much of an issue.

What I need to hear is that the GX2 is a blowover, or that its a great choice over the 9800GTX+.

Input?

well the 9800x2 should be the faster card but some people hate it for its microshuttering
If your power supply is what you have in your signature system, then go for the 9800GTX+

Dude, get the GX2. It's way faster than a single 9800GTX+. And with the latest drivers, there is no such thing as microstuttering.

it still competes against most newer cards pretty well.

performs better than the 4850 (which is just a little better than a 9800gtx+), but i don't think quite as good as a 4870.

but since you are a folder i say get it! 10k PPD baby! (excluding these new crappy WU's)

meh i have a 550w it runs fine
and i have never seen this microstuttering that people are always talking about
i love my gx2, and it stacks up quite nicely against the gtx 260 and 280 and the 4870 on newer systems

IMO 9800GX2. you said heat isn't an issue, so that takes care of one of the card's biggest issues. not to mention for the price it absolutely demolishes the 9800GTX+ and at worst will preform just under it's level... hence you have the best of both worlds, both literally and figuratively

granted drivers and performance may not always be at max, but when it is you will be getting the performance of a GTX 280...
