Best bang/buck card right now is the Radeon 5770, imo. But the 5970 is the best card, performance wise.

You never know they could hold at the same prices if nvidia doesn't have something directly competitive on the same price ranges. Hell...the 5850 went up from 250 to 310...I feel stupid for not buying it when it first came out.
