A comparison...

People of Overclock.net, help me out:

I want to replace my FX5900XT with a more "modern" and "powerful" videocard. And of course, it must be done on a budget (because I am going to take the missess to a nice hotel for our anniversary this Feb). I have considered buying a 6600GT, and when compared with my FX5900XT this is what I get:

FX5900XT 6600GT
Graphics Core 256-bit 256-bit
Memory Interface 128-bit 128-bit
Memory Bandwidth 30.4 Gb/s 14.4 Gb/s
Memory Data Rate 950 Mhz 900Mhz
RAMDAC 400 Mhz 400 Mhz
Fill Rate 3.8 billion 4 billion
Vertices/s 356 million 375 million
Pixels/clock 8 8

Which one is better?

The guys told me the 6600GT is quite a bit better than the FX5900XT but if i was you id wait a bit longer till you got extra cash for better one. But its up to you.

theyre almost the same, not worth upgrading

The 6600gt is a directX 9c card which gives it an advantage in new games, and also has the pixel shader 3.0 technology.

Hmmm... I recall the thread now. So I do not have a weak mobo or little memory, of slow processor...

Just want to help out 6600gt1047 and buy his card, but if I am getting no benefit out of it, I am not going to do it and just wait for a 6800 (insert flavor here).
