yeah that's what my computer tell me almost every night, sometimes 2 or 3 times a night, but it never stay more than 2 seconds. it's not the ISP, i called them (i kno,w they can say anything)

the problem is probably the router. can it be because it can't handle my internet service (cable)? or is it because it is not properly configured?

it's started a while ago, and i did not do anything to it, neither my roommates (they know dick about computers )

anyway, that's why i want to get a new router (see other post), to try and solve that problem

Try looking at the network traffic monitor in Task Manager and see if your traffic spikes or dips before disconnect. That could help you identify the problem. (Very good chance it's the router, though. Try installing a software firewall and going straight from the comp to the modem.)

Replace the cable going from the modem to the router, that would affect all the computers.
And if that doesnt work, reinstall drivers maybe?

Actually, this is totally untrue, all machines would lose internet if it was that cable, but they would still recognize a network connection as long as they are still connected to a router.

What's the setup on your network?
what do you mean setup?

i have one MAC, 2 PCs plugged in, and a laptop using the wireless connection. but even when all of them are OFF, and only my rig is ON, the same message keep appearing every half hour, or so.

the only change i made in the router configuration is choosing a password, and securing th wireless connection.

this is getting really annoying, and my roommates are getting pissed.

can i go back to an older firmware?
