I'd get a 9800 gt rather than a gtx simply because its single slot and there isnt much of an increase if any.

If you mean bringing vantage scores down that is because when the physx card is inserted, of course a gtx 260 will perform better at physx than a 8600gts but that is when there is no actual game rendering going on. But, say if you are playing a game like cryostasis that pushes your video card to the max, and theres still physx operations to be done, this is where the physx card helps. The primary GPU does all the rendering while the phys ppu performs the physx calculations giving you a boost in fps. In other games that don't use physx, the ppu make no difference at all, it does Not slow then down nor does it speed them up. Its just there.
Edit: for the above post, in mirrors edge or something there will be a couple fps boost and in something like cryostasis that pours out physx then there should be a 3-5 fps boost. There wont be an insane 10+ fps boost in any games that are out now.
