I highly suggest the Polk out of those you listed. I have owned the same unit for about 5 years and could not be any happier with it for the price I paid.

For that little money, the polk is going to be the best bet... In a small room it will ahve a decent response, but can be a bit harsh and and have strong peaks in the response.

Well the polk will certainly be good and Soloz recomended the brand so I guess its trustworthy. That site looks like it offers free shiping on many things though so that one may be the same price as the polk after shipping.

In that case I would think it would work just as well if not better.

Check the Polk Audio store on Ebay. I recently bought a refurbished DSW Pro 600 for $390 shipped including tax, which they charged me for some reason. It normally goes for $680. It is absolutely killer. The transaction through the store was top notch.

The sub I bought appeared in brand new condition and works flawlessly. It still has a 2 year warranty as well.

You may be able to find a PSW505 for a little more than your budget refurbished or even brand new. I believe they were recently discontinued so they are being blown out on brand new models.

one, its in stock, two, bigger. i need to compensate some how.

I second this sub. I have it. It rocks balls. How big of a room is the home theater in? If its a great room then a 12" might give some more rumble. However, very few people can discern the performance difference between a 10" and 12" sub in the 30-50Hz range (the range that a 12" is better than a 10" sub at).

Also voting for going with a Dayton. Best budget sub hands-down. You will NOT be disappointed if you get one.

Unless the room is tiny, I'd def go with a 12" sub.. I have the older model of this JBL in one of my rooms and it rocks (paid $159 on ebay years ago)

In my dedicated theater room I run a Bash powered SVSOUND.COM subwoofer, which for the money will DOMINATE anything else you put there. Those subs put out so much quality, low hz bass you can shake the road outside of your house!
(My sub puts hits as low as 15hz)

Well if pissing off your neighbors and setting off seismic alarms is the goal, then yes I agree, go with LiquidKaos's recommendation.

I bought some floor standing speakers from them, and they did come in perfect condition even tho they are labeled as refurbished.

Amazon still has the Polk in stock if you decide to take it over a Dayton.
