Which would be the best board?

I have been hearing great things about both of these boards, but I'm not sure what one would be the best.

I havenot tried the asus board but I am lovin my abit. The asus 965 deluxe put a bad taste in my mouth so I havnet tried a asus board since. It is suppose to be a really nice board.

The only advantage I see with the asus is the voltage dampening thing which cuts down on the vdroop. Strap selection is another thing I guess allthough I dont really use that anyways and the abit runs with the lowest latencys possible for what it has available.

But for the price I the abit is a really good board.

I've heard tons of reviews/recommendation about the Asus board. My friend Scott aka Sdumper said that its very good, just don't get the Vanilla.

Besides I've always used Asus and i have no complains

-beefier heatsinks
-strap selection
-nicer looking (come on. that has to count for something.)
-automatic CMOS reset for failed overclocks (i've used that about a thousand times. my hands are too big to easily reach in most computers to pull the CMOS jumper easily, too.)
-built-in WiFi for transmitting as well as receiving

my biggest problem with the P5K is the layout of the PCI slots. IF you go CrossFire with two double-slot cards, you'll end up with only 1 PCI slot available. the ABIT will have two PCI slots open. not that this is a purists' CrossFire chipset anyway.

Asus has a automatic CMOS reset? Don;t you mean the P35 Pro does?

as far as i know, all modern Asus boards have that feature. from the product page:

it isn't an actual CMOS reset. it's better because it doesn't reset everything. it just gets you back into the BIOS so you can adjust your settings.

The IP35 Pro does actually reset everything back to the last good settings, should something hang. I may seem a little bit biased, but this is easily IMO the best P35 board. It was ridiculously easy for me to set everything up, but the tweaking options are quite good.

Yeah the abit will reset to the settings you had before you changed them. Say ytou try going from 3.0ghz to 4.0ghz and it freezes it will reset back to 3.0ghz.

There is a cmos clear switch on the back of the mobo (where you plug in your kepboard and stuff IO area) that takes about 5 sec to clear cmos. I have never had to pull the battery or do any of that stuff to clear the cmos.

The heat sincs on the P35 board are veru adequate. I replaced all mine but I would have with the Asus as well. The asus stock board cooling is kind of rediculouse I think and there are far better cooling solutions that work far better.

I think for the difference in price its not worth it to go the asus route personally. If they were the same price then I would consider the asus board but...
