Abit KV8PRO SKT754 - HELP THE NEWBIE...

Hi All,

Im kind of new to the whole computer modding scene, having this as my second home built computer...so here comes the silly question!

I have just bought the Abit KV8PRO SKT754 with an appropriate processor etc, although i didnt notice on the spec which RAM it would accept, i.e. it says on another website, DDR 400/300/266, but on looking at my order that i made yesterday for all my bits, i bought OCZ Gold EL Dual Channel Kit 2x512MB PC3700 which is DDR 466? Will this work or should i change my order ASAP before they ship it?

Please help me?

Welcome to the forum! You're in the right place for help

The memory you purchased will work fine with your board, it will automatically run at PC3200 speeds. NICE ram btw!

The PC3700 will give you some headroom if you plan on overclocking at all.

Wow that was amazing, i never expected a reply that quickly??! Thanks for the good news, i started panicking then!

Is it good RAM? I just read through lots of reviews on RAM etc and this set came up trumps with many users so i took a gamble seen as i dont know that much about compnents.

I also bought an Athlon 3000+ 64 to go with this all and an MSI NX6800-TD128 Geforce 6800. Got some nice cables and fans etc, really looking forward to building it on monday now!

I am building this machine to run Houdini modelling for my 3rd year dissertation at Uni. Obviosuly i had a budget....but i think i did ok with it??
