First, check the SMART status of the drive. Use the SpeedFan tool. Since it is a 80GB drive, I am assuming it is 2-3 years old?

Download and install SpeedFan.
Go to the 4th tab labelled "S.M.A.R.T."
Select your hard disk in the drop down.
Hit the big "Perform an in-depth online analysis of this hard disk".
Check for any warnings.

See if there are any major errors or warnings first. It could be just a corrupt game install but good to make sure your HD is fine first.

Check my Dual or Multi PArtition FAQ link in my sog, use the WD link and get Data Life Guard and burn the bootable ISO, boot and test the HDD.
You should also check you CPU temp in the BIOS, it reflects 80% of the full load, you may simply be getting errors due to high CPU temps.

that sounds like a plan also...i will try both of your recommendations and i thank you for your help....i hope this doesnt result in a bad drive.....i do understand the overheating problem...if you look in my specs you can see that i have the stock cooler still...i keep the side of the case open so that it doesnt get too hot but that could be a possibility....odd thing is is that it usually sits at 48c at full load....only when its hot outside does it go in the 50's

It may be a long shot, but just in case you can't find anything wrong with the HDD, I would point you towards the RAM. It is just a feeling, I had some similar HDD corruption issues and it was proven to be because of my OC and the "too tight" timing I had set.
I dunno if you should just set looser timings or if the rams generate errors even @ stock speed (aka broken ram stick), but I guess you'll figure it out once you begin testing.
