AMD has released a new version of the ATI Stream SDK (Software Development Kit) to help developers make applications that utilize ATI Radeon GPUs to perform various tasks. The Nvidia CUDA-rivaling ATI Stream SDK 1.4 beta adds support for the Radeon HD 4870 X2 and ATI FirePro 3D V8750, V8700, V7770, V7750, V5700, V3750 graphics cards, and features:

This should help somebody make CUDA rivaling apps.

Even if they did it first, I'm appreciate some optimizations NOW so they fold better.

Last I read they used the HD 3850 (or was it 3870?) for their GPU base-line test.

I might look into that after my 4870 is delivered. thanks.

Folding was supported back with my old x1950pro--I think all the 1950 series cards could support gpu folding.

Only thing I care about for now is gpu accelerated video encoding. AVIVO is a crap gimmick, and doesn't actually work. I'd love for a 3rd party encoder/transcoder to support ati gpu-accelerated encoding. I'd actually pay money for it if it worked properly (to an extent...).
