AC7 to v8 a worthy upgrade?

Would replacing my Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro with a Coolmaster V8 make a substantial difference in cooling? Or would it be a waste of $40?

It'd be worth it, the v8 is quite decent cooler at its holiday price.

You should probably look for a Mugen 2 at that price will perform better.

$40 eh? go for it!
Go for the mugen 2. Performs better than the v8 and is cheaper.

I got my megahalem at heatsinkfactory for $49.95, the rev. B that is.

EDIT: Scratch that, I guess they changed prices... now they are $61

Okay thanks for the advice about the Mugen 2. I was thinking about the Megahalem's since I know it's the best but with shipping to Canada plus a new fan it would be over $100 and that's more than I want to spend since I'm not doing any crazy OC's or anything.

For 40$ its a nice good looking cooler and yes Mega is like 100$ in Canada.

Well, the first question should be do you need more than the AC 7?
What are your temps like now?
like others have said, get the mugen 2 instead if u have the room in your case
NO NO NO NO NO.........swapping the AC7 PRO for the V8 would be an EPIC waste of cash.

the AC7 PRO will dissipate up to 200w of heat, i bet the V8 is nowhere near that.

Maybe if we were talking dual cores, you'd be right, but this is for a Q9550, so you're not. The Freezer 7 Pro is barely any better than stock when it comes to quads, honestly.

Also, I second the MUGEN 2, cheaper and performs slightly better, especially with a ZM-F3 instead of its included Slipstream.

Try overclocking higher than that, seriously (and put more volts into it). Anything under 3.8GHz won't say much about how good your cooler is.

What do you mean by passive? You mean with the fan turned off on the cooler? Because if that's the case, you've proven my point as that's WAY too hot for any Yorkfield.

what......

what do you think happens without airflow over the cooler, the chip heats up, even with a Megahalem.... with no air movement it'll cook itself.

you should stop typing, that hole is only getting deeper.
