Looking for a little help here...

I would like to be able to access the files on my external hard drive, that is connected through USB to my router. I have a Netgear N300. My router is the 2nd hop on our network, so I'm going through another router first.

I would love to be able to do it though an FTP, but if that isn't possible that is ok. I am also willing to hook up the hard drive to my laptop and leave that on 24/7 if that leads to a better solution. I don't really want a "logmein" solution. I don't care about seeing my desktop or what not, I just want my files accessible remotely.

I am willing to put some money into it if I need to, for dynDNS or something, if that is required.

I just VPN to my server at home then can smb or afp to any connected devices on my network.

teamviewer has ftp connections. would be simple and free
