Acer Aspire Overheating

Basically, the problem is this.

I have an Acer Aspire, AMD Turion 64 x2, with a Nvidia 7000M. When i start using it, everything's fine, and the CPU and GPU stays at 40º-50ºC, but later, like some 30 minutes, the CPU is at 80ºC and the GPU at 90ºC.
Monitored temp with Everest and CoreTemp, both reported the same.

Also, the fan is noisier and spining faster at 75ºC, after that it doesn't make too much sound or take too much speed.

Could be a ventilation problem?

Thanks OCN

Posting here so I get subbed, this guy is friend of mine. Want to know what the solution was.
Can you give an exact model of the Aspire? Or take some shots of the sides and bottom of the laptop?

If it's hitting 80C (at what I'll assume to be normal-moderate use) within 30 minutes it's one of three things:

Bad ventilation - this is doubtful as this would be more of a model-wide problem that would've been snubbed out in QA.

Faulty fan on the heatsink - common problem, but if you say it's spinning full time and at high RPM, this is doubtful.

Improperly seated heatsink - again, can be a common problem for all laptops, regardless of make and model. I have, no joke, seen a heatsink that was physically lifted off the CPU because somehow the factory applied TIM was globbed on - around - the core instead of on it. A reseating and re-application of TIM can solve most laptop overheating issues.
It's an Acer Aspire 5520-5260. Unfortunately right now i don't have a camera to take some photos.

About:

Bad Ventilation - Very doubtful since i have the laptop on my legs or a table almost all the time.

Faulty Fan of the Heatsink - Well, i really don't know much about that, and i forgot to say that the fan spins at low RPM when it hits 80ºC.

Improperly seated Heatsink - Didn't thinked in that, since the laptop is relatively new (buyed like some 5 months ago). But i will try to check if the heatsink is properly seated on these days.

Thanks.

I was going to talk in english, but... why xD

Descarga Speedfan. Puedes ver a cuántas RPM va el ventilador. AsÃ* podrás ver si el ventilador va más o menos lento de lo que deberÃ*a.

Also, it will be difficult to check if the heatsink is properly mounted without unscrewing the bottom of the case.

80c is normal for a Turion X2, and the GPU temp is a bit on the high side but nothing out of the ordinary.
Has this just happened all of a sudden?

Is it possible that when the laptop is actually on your lap, your legs are blocking the air intake vents for the fan which would be restricting fresh air intake?

Is the laptop full of dust? you can check by removing the rear panels. If so just blow it out with an air duster (NOTE! Make sure battery is out and it's disconnected from the mains)

I noticed it some days ago, i was starting to feel more heat on my legs, so i used CoreTemp to see if it was my imagination or what.

No, i put the laptop on my lap in a form that it doesn't block the air intake.

And no, dust discarted since a clean it with regularity.

This exact thing happened to my Aspire 5100 just remove the fan and clean the end of the heatsink you should find a lot of dirt and dust
By MSN, he's off. He said he's unscrewing the bottom right now. Cleaning dust iiiiisn't that hard :U

Back.

Conclusion: A lot of dust that was epicly bloquing the Heatsink and the Fan.

An the screws are very small, i almost lost one in the middle of the cleaning, lol

Thanks to all

Edit:

It's nice to see my CPU's in 50ºC like before

At this time they should be at 65ºC-70ºC.
