Add Political Section

Seeing a lot of potentially good political debates on certain news items recently and since I know it's not allowed, maybe have a space reserved for these kind of discusions in off-topic. Since these could definately go out of control for the PG limit, could put an age limit of 18 and up to access it.

Seeing how there's a decent amount of educated people here, it would be nice to have a nice discussion on here to see other peoples point of views (on tech politics on others).

Yay, Nay?

Nay. Some people take it to serious and it will get out of hand. Its a bad idea.
Ha! Might as well add a Religious, Sexual Orientation, and Hate Group Membership sections as well.

Yes, BAD IDEA...
Overclock.net is for, well, overclocking. Not debating.

I'm a member on another tech site that has a debate section. It is full of nothing but slander and bashing/flaming. Causes nothing but problems.
Hrm, shot down fast. Figured it could get the political talk out of some of the news post and put it into a section away from people who don't want to read that kind of stuff, kinda like having a political link from a news artical dealing with said things.
I see where you are coming from, but I don't see it working. It's not disallowed just because of the fighting but for the reputation of OCN as a whole. Also who would police the age limit. I do not see many people whipping out there credit card just so they can chat.
isnt this against the TOS

The age you type in when you create your account. I know you can bypass that, but one who's willing to create a new account just to be able to discuss politics is just as likely to just go to a site just for that. Another idea for it: So people don't let the hate out of it, have a nickname for your internet name? (seeing as some people could get mad at each other and not wanting that to spread into other parts of OCN).

Against the TOS because it's highly controversial.

So...no.
Nope, its been done before with one thread that was political and got so out of hand bans were handed out due to the debates and strong opinions of some, this thread will be closed and deleted soon anyway
why would they make a section on something that is clearly against the tos?

lolwut
people need to learn how to read

There's enough hatred between Intel & AMD without that!

Considering that it's been almost 3 YEARS since I read and agreed to the TOS I don't exactly remember all of it
, and I would assume if Admin created a section for Politics (if) it would be exempt to talk about politics in that part of the forum
.

meh politics doesn't need to be on an overlcocking forum

people can hardly discuss ati vs nvidia in a mature way
so how can they expect people to talk about politics without being immature and flaming each other?

Then you would simply not go to that part of the forum (off-topic doesn't go on the recently posted too..)

As for it not being about overclocking, yes and no. Some of the politics deal with the laws about technology/video games, so that would be a direct relation and people here have a lot of other hobbies, just look at 'Our rigs' section
.

No. Some people take the forums currently available TOO seriously... I don't want to think what could happen if there was a political section.
i like the idea even tho i know it will end badly.

nay. sorry, not on OCN.
