system
AMD athlon 64 3000+
350W power supply
nvidia fx 5700
1.5GB of ram
xp pro

at default clock speeds i scored 3042 and overclocked i got a 3675 this was 2 days ago when i had only 1 gb of ram (2 sticks of 512)

now i got another stick of 512 making a total of 1.5gb now my score is 2937 when normal, and when i overclock it i get only 3375

all my ram is the same crucial, pc3200 184 pin DIMM all 3 sticks are the exact same part number

why would the score drop? i figured it would at least stay the same

Well when u stuck that extra 512stick inside you lost your dual channel capabilities. Now if u got 1 more stick of 512 and put it in the 4th slot you regain dual channel, allowing for alot more bandwith.

Your motherboard is a socket 754 and the AMD onboard memory controller of the 754 form factor works overtime with three filled slots. This is common. You do not have dual channel in the 754 cpu form factor.
