Gpu is the most important piece, so I do whatever it took to up the card to a GTX 460. I bought one for less than what you're paying for the 5770, so look around for combos/sales.

What's the problem with the case I picked out? I don't really want anything too flashy, and I really like the airflow it seems I can get through this one. The Antec Three Hundred Illusion is pretty cool--I especially like that it comes with four fans straight out of the box.

sccr--I can find the 768mb GTX460 for about the same price, but I feel like that wouldn't really be worth it unless it were the 1GB version. If you can find me one of those for negligibly more, I'd definitely go for that.

PSU has been changed. I'd like to overclock to at least 3.5GHz, hopefully 3.8GHz or so, hence the CPU cooler. Wasn't really sure the 500W I had could handle it before, so the 650W definitely will I imagine. Also help if I decide to go with the higher power GPU too...

Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212

If I may, and your willing to take gamble

Open Box: Mobo

The advantage is this is the step up giving you two pci-e 16x 2.0 at 1 x 16x or dual at 8x for less cost.

You can see the side by side >>here

Other wise, solid build.

Mmm, no dropping of the cooler. Looking to overclock to 3.8GHz or so, and am definitely not comfortable OCing without an aftermarket cooler. Current plan is at the last post of the first page, with a 460 at ~$850 total. Looking into 465's now...loving the MSI Twin Frozr 465 at the moment. Just have to decide which one is better, since they're the same price on the 'Egg.

Be sure to watch your temps while overclocking... that heatsink looks fairly small.

Out of curiosity why the switch to the Evga board?

If I were the OP I'd never go with EVGA, if you have any problem the RMA service is pure bull**** lately.

My personal no-no list:
OCZ Ram
XFX GPUs
EVGA Mobos
Seagate HDDs

The switch to the EVGA board is because of a recommendation I got + a nice combo deal from Newegg. Any other recommendations on a good board? Heard good things about Gigabyte boards for some budget overclocking.

The 212+ is widely rated as the best low-price heatsink--it's a bit small sure, but I've seen a number of builds pushing/over 4GHz on the i5-750. Recommendations on a better CPU cooler under $40? Trying to keep this as cheap as possible, with quality parts of course...
