I'm on a super tight budget, so I dont need any stupid IPS stuff or anything. I'd like to know what the cheapest monitor that I can get that would be able to go 120hz as well. Are there any at under like $2-300? I saw a linus tech tips video on overclocking 60hz monitors. Having 75hz would help me a ton. Are some monitors better at that than others? Like will some overclock higher? Do you need higher quality parts, or better cooling or something?

Thanks

Cheapest I could find on newegg at 120hz

Overclocking your monitor depends solely on the manufacturer. Some do and some dont. It would probably be best to buy one that is natively set at a higher refresh rate then 60.

There are about 20 monitors on newegg that come stock with a 75hz refresh rate. In order to run smoothly at a higher refresh rate you are going to need a "nice" video card that can consistently give you high framerates so that you get the added benefits of having a higher refresh rate. Most people use SLI 680's or Crossfired 7970's for 1080p 120hz I believe (I could be wrong)

What type of video card do you currently have?

CURRENTLY I have a amd 5450. However my new gtx 660 ti OC 2gd5 just came in the mail and I'm going to install it. With the 120hz I'd be fine with just running it on one monitor, maybe at like 1620x1050 or some lower resolution with mid grapihcs. My MAIN game that I play is TF2 so I'll easily be able to get that above 120 lol. My processor is a phenom ii 830.
Speaking of which is there a way to get my build in my sig?

Does anyone know of any monitors that can overclock well? What if I were to get one that can go stock at 75hz or something and then OC it to do 80 or 100 or something more?
Though 75hz would still be okay. Better than 60 but I'd rather have higher.

What about the 'catleap' monitors on ebay? Thery're ips monitors that are like 2560x1444 or some huge resolution. That would be really nice for the video editing that I do. I could obviously turn the resolution down for gaming if I was playing like crysis 3 or bf3 or something. Do you think those would be able to overclock to 75hz or something?

Yep at the top of the site where it says Home Forums etc etc all the way to the right it will say RigBuilder. Click on that and build a new rig. Then go to your profile to update your signature and it will have an option to say show off your stuff. Select the rig you just built in rig builder and it will be there
