hello ,
i want to upgrade my rig and i have a dilemma im in S775 and this socket is dead i have two choice upgrading and get a q9400 and buy a phenom x4 630 and a gigabyte 770-ud3p considerating that am3 mobo can handle new cpu which will come in 2010 (im not sure someone to help me? ) what would you do if you were me?
thanks

Well a q9400 will blow an athlon (not phenom
) x4 630 out of the water in terms of performance, but you are correct in that AM3 is still relatively new while Intel's 775 socket is nearing the end of it's road.

so, my suggestion would have to be split based on two things:

1. If you have only about $200 to spend then my suggestion would be to opt for the q9400

2. If you are willing to spend more like $300 then I would go for a nice AM3 board and a phenom II X4 955 in a heartbeat

hope that helps

i think i'll go for am3 because in 2010 i have no like to change mobo and ram i get am3 because i'll be already in ddr3 and ready for the new cpus

im right?

absolutely. so long as you get a fast phenom II X4 right now to hold you out until the new tech arrives, you should be good to go

i'll get the am3 socket and wait for future am3 cpu as bulldozer
That is the way I'm go. He is right PhenomII x4 is the better way, because the 6 or 8 core maybe to high in price when they come out.
yes but i'll wait to get one
i just want a little evolution
