A TRUE 120 or a Noctua. True if you are going to pressure mod and lap and noctua if you arent.
true, sunbeam core contact, coolermaster v8, xigmatek dark knight and noctua nh-u12p.

I'd recommend the following heatsinks:

(add an extra 120mm fan to the back)

thermal right ultra is a great heatsink but the cost/benefit ratio kind of blows and they generally require lapping.

This is false, the TRUE beats it out of the box with the same fan.

OP, get the TRUE and a nice 120x38mm fan, you won't regret it.

Nuff said lol. Scythe Mugen 2 is very good and cheap too, Dark Knight is very good, rest listed are all some of the best.

Cooler Master V-10 is very good but it's expensive (out of your price range by far!) and it's huge and heavy. Plus, for that price water cooling is reachable.
I would recommend the Noctua H-U12P if you don't want to go through the hassle of lapping. If you are fine with lapping, go with the TRUE.

Again..the TRUE doesn't need to be lapped to beat it.

Not to hijack your thread Drawz, lol. Ya know I'm looking for one too. I figured to ask in here and not just make basically the same thread.

I'm trying to figure out some good thermal grease to use as well for one of the Coolers listed. Noctua or the Dark knight sound good to me. In my case, cheaper for the price/performance is good for me right now.

hehe figured i could help us both out with this one i dont want to lap my cpu though... i just don't feel comfortable taking sand paper to such a tiny expensive and delicate beast thanks for all the replies though i think im going to go with the true --

oc beats arctic silver?
Arctic Silver has a curing time of up to 200hrs, so many people dont like it. i didnt wait for the curing time and its still great temps. load temps at 40*C @ 3.33ghz

OCZ Freeze, AC MX2, and IC Diamond are all great. AS5 is great too.

all of these have temps varying only ~3*C at max. so if ur an extremist, some research is needed. but if u want to do some OCing, but not squeeze every mhz out and do suicide runs, any of those will be fine.

Same here, I don't really wanna lap my CPU especially. If the cooler looks like really lopsided or off a bit, then I may sand it a bit, only if absolutely needed. Otherwise I'm just keeping it "as is". I wouldn't think the companies would let them go out if they're that bad. lol

you would be surprised... and they cant inspect every one that leaves. i didnt lap mine either, the 1*C drop isnt worth damaging my heat pipes or my CPU.

just make sure u look up how to properly mount the cooler u get.
