All video cards stopped working on my Gigabyte X58-UD3R

I decided to take out my motherboard to change the thermal paste since I was getting high temps and I remembered that I put on alot last time. I put on artic silver this time instead of IC diamond, but when I turned the computer on, my hd 4850 had two red lights on the back and nothing came up on the screen.

So after the 4850 didn't work, I tried my 8600gt which worked on my other computer and the fan spun but no video came up again. What could cause this to happen? Could I have messed up my PCI Express slots somehow when I took the board out of the case?

Did you plug everything in correctly?

Try resetting your bios, if nothing, swap out your PSU and see if it's that.

Yeah I tried reconnecting everything, resetting the CMOS, trying a different PSU, and nothing seemed to work.

Yes, very possible. Do you have a PCI video card to test with?
I had a similar deal with one of my builds. I took the motherboard out, replaced the tim on the southbridge, put it back together and the PCI-e slot was dead. I RMA'ed it.

Yeah I tried my 4850 and my 8600gt on both slots and neither of the cards worked on both slots.
No, do you have a PCI (not pci-e) video card to test if it is a pci-e slot problem or a motherboard problem.

Oh sorry I misread what you said, I might have a 5600gt or something like that but it doesn't have a fan or heat sink on. I will try it and see if it works though.
Ok I tried the old PCI card and it still didn't work. I noticed that on my board there are these LEDs that show the amount of work the CPU is doing, and before all the lights would be on but now only one green light out of the five lights are on. Could that be that something is wrong with the cpu?
Possibly, check the manual and see how error codes are reported. I have a similar board and I thought I read the it was for Dynamic Energy Saving and would show how much CPU activity there was, if activated.

There is nothing in the manual about the lights having to do with errors, all it says is that is for the energy savings just like you said. I guess I am going to have to return it then. Man I have been having bad luck with motherboards lately.
I exchanged my board for another one and everything works fine now, so I guess there was a short or something in the board. Thanks to everyone that helped.
