AMD Phenom II 920 2.8 GHz
ASRock A780FullHD AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G Micro ATX
G.SKILL 4GB 2x2GB 800
Sapphire HD 4870 512 MB
Rosewill RP550V2-S-SL 550 W

how will this perform on games like Crysis and GTAIV?

Looks good, however (depending on your monitor's resolution) you might want to step up to a 1GB 4870.
don't worry its very small. 1280x1024 on a 19" LCD
how much have you got it?

at that reso, it's an overkill for any game.

i would definately buy a better psu. or if you want to stick with rosewill, get a 650w for that card.

that mobo will also hold you back for ocing (lack of features in bios), but if you don't oc that much, it's a decent mobo.

Spent around $550 for all that. I bought a 550 W to keep the cost down because minimum for the 4870 is 500W. and the mobo... I don't think I will be ocing that much because I will be using a stock cooler.

It should play crysis on high/maxed out.

GTA IV would probably be playable on high, on my rig I play it on medium (800 x 600, though)

uh.. isn't crysis more power-hungry than GTA IV? anyway, its pretty sweet, finally I can play Crysis and other games that I haven't played yet.

No, GTA IV is WAY more power hungry. Crysis is old news now, compared to GTA IV.

That mobo has enough features for a decent overclock , overall nice build

Echohunter, that is correct. The Rosewill 550W should be perfectly fine. The minimal 12volt amperage requirements for a 4850/4870 appears to be 32 amps. The Rosewill unit provides 35 amps which is well enough for that card and the rest of your system. The efficiency rating is a tad low though(more power is wasted which also equals more heat). If you decide to go with an additional card in the future then you may want to think about upgrading the PSU.

Hope you enjoy the new build

Good luck

Thank you, can't wait for them to come. I don't think I will be getting an additional card later so I will have to stick with this PSU for the moment but I have come across a problem, it seems like this psu is not going to fit in my little case. I took measurements of the psu that I currently have and it matches the Rosewill one so I thought it might fit but after ordering all the parts I noticed that the rosewill has different screw holes.

It will probably fit, most of them are the same size... But just to be on the safe side , what case is it?
Your 4870 512MB is fine. The most the 1gb cards ever have over a 512 is 5FPS at most. Other than that, my nitpicks are your RAM and PSU. A 4870 will do just fine on 550W, but Rosewill is...ehhh. Get a corsair 550 at least. About the RAM...you have a CPU capable of taking advantage of DDR2 1066, and G.SKILL has a 2x2GB set for 53 bucks w/ free shipping right now. Your next upgrade should be to a monitor w/ at least 1680x1050 res. And BTW, GTAIV isn't more demanding than crysis, it's just horribly coded.
Yeah i agree, GTA4 is the worst port ever, it wasn't even optimized(still isn't , didn't support multiple cards at launch, only fixed it later with a patch), looks horrible for the resources it consumes...It's just pathetic

Echohunter, if you purchased a standard ATX computer case then the power supply should fit including dimensions and holes. Make sure you don't have the power supply in backwards. Sometimes the sticker does face in.

Let us know

Good luck

It is a generic mAtx case by Emachines. Didn't have enough money to buy a new case.

I totally forgot about changing the ram on the buy list. I didn't notice that AM2+ cpu could use 1066 MHz so I just bought the 800 MHz one (I know... really dumb
)

Thanks
The PSU fit perfectly. I was a bit worried about it but it all went well and now I have my rig. It's running great so far. Love maxing out all the games!

!
Don't worry about the 800MHz RAM, there's basically no difference unless you OC which you said your not, so your golden! Your rig is similar to mine, and at 1080P this thing RAPES everything so far, need to install Crysis tho
