Newegg had the same deal couple days ago, and I just got mine. This mouse has major lift off distance and it's annoying as hell. Returned mine back already.

thinking of buying a second as backup
Maybe it was a faulty mouse. My G9X doesn't have that problem. I played a few FPS shooters with the G500 and the lift off distance made it awful.

I guess im not really up on the terms for mouse evaluation, what is lift distance ( i get that your lifting it to move but how can it be different mouse to mouse with similar dpi?)

i anticipate the flames.....but i honestly use a wired 360 controller for all my pc games. I find it much more natural. I cant coordinate mouse and keyboard well

last time i play a computer game and felt natural with mouse and keyboard was AVP2..... lol

i just love this mouse for how it feels and for internet surfing etc. bc i don't use it for games. I wanna try the G9x though

My G500 ive had for like a year now, both buttons are messed up they will either not click or will double click on its own. Im trying to get logitech to replace it, but it took them over a week to respond to my first email, when they responded they wanted the serial numbers i sent that on the 19th, still no response.

There is definitely a quality control issue with the g500s. I've owned 3 of them, the 1st one the tilt wheel didn't work, the 2nd it skipped like crazy on every surface, and finally the 3rd seems to be working nicely on all accounts.

I've had two G500's. The first one I bought used and had for almost a year, absolutely no problems. The second one I bought brand new, have had for nearly 6 months, no problems. I looked at some ratings, Newegg has over 1600 ratings with over 1000 5 stars. Amazon has over 600 ratings with 399 perfect ratings. Sure there are always going to be faulty products & people are gonna get DOA items, but to say that the G500 is a bad product is a huge exaggeration. I also went though two G5's without any problems. I tried prob 4-5 different mice before settling on Logitech mice and they've always been perfect for me.

After the second time buying a product of this price and having it faulty I would not go for round 3. The Logitech loyalty is strong in this one.

I got mine around then. I love it and wouldnt trade it for anything. I bought it because of the weights. I like a heavy mouse so it dosent feel like im useing something cheap. Has never let me down and i love my free spin scroll wheel surfing the net. I figured id never use it when i bought it. Now i cant go without it.
