AMD 3100+ overclocking

827 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  rhoel
Hi, I have just purchased an AMD 3100+ and was wondering if there was any way of getting it to run faster. I'm currently overclocking it to 2.0GHz using the software provided with the mother board but I'm not sure how far I can take it without causing problems.

Cheers

First off, welcome to the forum matty2310.

Well the best advice I can give you is OC through the BIOS if possible. Software OC'ing utilities are usually not very reliable. Check out this guide ---> http://www.overclock.net/overclock.p...king-guide.htm
Once you get a good understanding on the process of OCing post back any questions you have. I will go ahead and tell you, fill out your system profile in your "User CP" so we will be able to help you better. Information like motherboard, CPU, and RAM are very important for us to help you.

hmm..i dont think there is a 3100+ cpu....its either 3000 or 3200, and it would be good to know the rest of your system
He has the Sempron 3100+, runs 200x9, he has it up to 222x9

I've got a sempron 3100+. I'd be glad to help. This is my first overclocking project so I'm pretty much a newbie. Unfortunately, the hard drive I had installed has died on me. It was one had had lying around and was a few years old. Luckily, I got a letter a week ago from seagate saying I won a 160gb sata drive from them, but who knows when it'll be here. I have a few benchies I can share if you need them.

Thats a nice friggin overclock with that sempron!!

OMG I'm jealous! How do you like that chaintech?

I'm in the air about a DFI or a Chaintech...
I would probably get the DFI if my budget was no object. The chaintech if you could use the 30+ bucks somewhere else. Difference when I bought mine was $50! The chaintech overclocks well, and it's easy too. I've read somewhere people have had wierd noises coming from the board. The temperature readings are unreliable. No firewire. But for the money, you can't beat it. Mine has been totally trouble free.
