Hello guys its been a few weeks since i posted and i stumbled upon this little gem so iam curious who has 1 and how far they have been able to clock them? I relize there are better options out there but iam interested in this perticular cpu so i would like to get feedback as far as games go and how it overclocks....Based on the specs it says its 125 w running at 4.3 ghz max,can it hit 5ghz on air or water is what iam really interested in! If i upgrade to this from my fx 6100 will i see any benafits as far as games are conserned? Thank you

4170 is know to oc around 4.7-5.0ghz. 4170 is ok for gaming, but there are gaming that can use 6 cores, so I would get a 6300.
Why go with a 6100? 6300 is way better.

Oh ok. So no it is not worth it and you will lose preformance. I would get a 6300/8320/8350 if you want more performance. 6300 would be better sence games can only use 6 core max.

I understand that.... what I don't understand is why he wants a BD over a PD.

Does the 6300 clock as well as the 4170? In game comparissons i get 60 fps with all the games i play with my fx 6100 but it hit a wall as far as clocking goes, iam at 4.2 ghz and cant go any higher without getting instability issues....but that could be the motherboard as well? The 8350 is nice but double the price of zembezi....

Iam still debating if i schould do eyefinity, ive noticed alot of people that do so usually tend to come back to 1 screen and that kinda worries me! I dont know which games support eyefinity but it is cool u have to admit....if i did decide to do it id like to run 2 cards in crossfire so more then likely therw will be some type of cpu bottleneck....

Get a 8350 or wait for steamroller.
If you are just gaming, there is no advantage between the 8320/8350/6300 on almost all games, if you apply a decent overclock on each. The 6300 uses less power and gives a comparable experience.

Going from a 6100 to a 6300 will yield better results and will not bottleneck 2 6870's if you have the 6300 at 4.6ghz or better as I have ran this same setup.

Running faster cards in crossfire such as 7870's or above will result in some bottleneck on the 6300/8320/8350 no matter the overclock. This has been my experience.

I have just swapped out from an [email protected] to an [email protected], i run 2 x gigabyte hd7870. The difference in the bottleneck on the same game, i play mainly bf3 multiplayer is a different world. The 8320 at this clock speed absolutely wipes the floor with my [email protected] in 2 cards utilisation when talking minimums and maximums
